The scene shows the Astrological Calendar (Zodiac). It is considered as the first calendar in history. It reflects the importance of sun and moon in Ancient Egyptian mythology. It was originally discovered in the Temple of Dandara in Luxor. Each unit in the calendar represents a specific time measurement of the calendar: Horus represents the four directions of the earth, and the goddesses represent the 4 seasons. The months are represented by adding the goddesses and Horus, for a total of twelve. If we add the total number of hands, it is 24, or the hours in the day. That Zodiac is considered as the first Calendar in Ancient Egyptian history.
This unique papyrus is available in only one piece, as it is handcrafted in our bazaar from 80 years ago. It follows the same process of ancient papyrus cultivation. We are licensed by the Government to produce this kind of papyrus, and to cultivate it in governmental land along the Nile River. Thus, our papyrus is flexible and strong, and it stays in its original state even after all those years of its made.
Onyx stone powder is used in painting the scene. It is 100% natural kind of paint as it is made of crushing Gemstones turning them into powder to paint with. Those rich colors are still the same through the time since 80 years ago. They have affected neither by temperature nor by time. This powder was used by ancient Egyptian artists to paint eternal portraits for kings and queens on the walls of tombs and temples.
